Well, after weeks of dreaming and planning the Pennine Way adventure has finally begun. I caught the train this morning from Alfreton in Derbyshire and the first stop was Sheffield, It was there that I met up with Chris. After a last minute change of platform we boarded our Train for Edale, the journey passed in no time at all as we chatted.
On arriving at Edale we headed for a quick pint in the Old Nags Head, we had a pint of “Nags” to toast what is going to be a great adventure. We chatted with a gentleman who had done the PW 10 years ago and he was thoroughly jealous. We spoke to him about ShareYourAdventure.com and I gave him one of the business cards I had.
After our pint we got on our way, heading over to Upper Booth and then up Jacobs Ladder. The ladder felt a bit tougher than the previous times I have ventured up it, simply because of the shear weight of my pack and all that food.
After a very pleasant walk on the western edge of Kinder we picked a great Wild Camping spot just south of the downfall. I’m currently lay in my tent nice and warm in my sleeping bag. I’m so glad I chose to bring my down jacket as there is a very cold wind blowing over the plateau.
I intend to blog every day so I shall post them as and when signal allows. keep checking back as once I get better signal I will add the YouTube videos and AudioBoos from today.
