#MicroAdventure – Bike & Bivvy – May 2013

I love an adventure, anywhere, anything, you name it, I’ll give it a whirl. I always really look forward to getting out and about where ever my bank balance and time off work will allow. A 1 or 2 week trip in Scotland walking Munros, a long weekend in the Lake District ticking off a few Wainwrights or half the Pennine Way ;-).

However, it doesn’t always have to be an “epic”, that word is ridiculously over used now days it seems. Just a single night out will sometimes do, a walk in the Peaks or a ride on the bike somewhere. That’s why I was interested when I saw a blog post about a #MicroAdventure. It’s a similar kind of thing to what I’ve done before but it requires you to set off from home or work. You have to cover at least 30 miles, sleep under the stars in a Bivvy and go for a wild swim.

I went for my first #MicroAdventure in a pretty familiar location, this time it was only a practice run so I decided to head out on my bike to our favourite bushcraft forest. I slept in my Bivvy, cooked over a fire and had a great time even if I was all alone.

To find out more about #MicroAdventure then head over to Alistair Humphreys’ website at http://www.alastairhumphreys.com. I’m hoping to head off again next week for another quick night out, weather dependant obviously. This time I’m going to head east if I can pin point somewhere suitable to camp.
