I’m very pleased to say that the image I entered in the Terra Nova Photography Competition has won first prize. It was a total shock when the email arrived if I’m honest as I had kind of forgot that I’d entered 🙂 the image in question is one that may be familiar to regular viewers of the site, it was taken a few months ago and it has been the header image on DeanRead.net for a while now. The image is a HDR combination of 3 shots taken on a trip to Snowdonia in Wales, it features the Wild Country Zephyros 1 Tent which is made by Terra Nova.
Although it is by no means perfect i’m quite fond of the image, mainly because it reminds me of how great the experience was that evening. I was up there with Terrybnd filming a video for Vango and the conditions were near perfect. We had stunning views of the Snowdon Horseshoe and the surrounding peaks from our camp on Carnedd Y Cribau. The image is looking north westwards towards Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach and down in to Pen Y Pass.
All thats left to do now is collect my prize 🙂 If you would like to view more images and a map from my Snowdonia trip then head over to Snowdonia – Carnedd Y Cribau Wild Camp. You can view more info about the competition over on Terra Nova’s website.
Well done Dean. Superb picture. If that don’t make folk want to take up backpacking – I don’t know what will 🙂
