Bushcraft – Bivvy Night – Nov 2014

It’s been a long time since I last had a night out Bushcrafting in the forest, the last occasion was over a year ago and even longer since my friend Jay came with us. 8 or 9 years ago we used to be out a couple of times a month but over the last few years we haven’t managed to make our timetables fit. Thankfully we now have a plan so we can get out again regularly and this was the first of many trips all being well. We headed to our regular Bushcraft location in a spot where we have permission to have a fire, we pitched our tarp, rolled out the bivvy bags and despite the fact all the wood was wet due to recent rains an excellent night was had by all. During the evening we had to really work hard to keep the fire going, thankfully Jay had an axe with him so we managed to split some wood, strip the bark and keep the fire stocked with dry wood.
